You can't say that I didn't warn you that we go to the Perth Zoo lots.

I have added another Gallery (Perth Zoo (January 30, 2005))

There are a couple of animals that have not yet made appearances in any of my other Galleries that I had put up so far.

- Golden Tamarin.  We usually don't get to see this little critter sitting still.  Tamarin's are quite active animals.

- Macaque.  I have had trouble getting good pictures of the Macaques too.  They are still quite new to the Zoo and have not quite settled into any routine.

- Red Panda.  I think in the 6 years that I have been going to the Perth Zoo I have only seen this little guy 4 or 5 times.  It likes hiding in the trees.

- Tree Frog.  These are really big frogs.  Only every now and then are the conditions right to get pictures of them without too much glare off the glass from the flash.  When the pictures turn out, they turn out really well though.

- The rest of the animals we have seen in the other Galleries.  I had to put some more of the Baby Baboon pictures in just because it is so cute.  The Orangutan standing at the viewing window is in her favourite place.  As soon as someone is standing at the window, she will move over to it and stay there for as long as there is people there. (Basically all day)

A New Gallery - Perth Zoo (March 20, 2005) has been added.

Just a couple of notes on this Gallery.

- It was a beautiful sunny day.  (Like the vast majority of days here in Perth, Western Australia)

- I really like the picture of the Tiger.  She was fairly close to where I was taking pictures and I was lucky enough to be there when she looked up from eating.

- I can't remember if the Monkey that there are two pictures of was actually chewing on the branch or not, but it was very peaceful laying there.

- I still can't remember the name of the other Monkey (heck I can't remember the names (types) of any of the Monkeys.  Next time we are at the Zoo I will get them down.

- There are a couple pictures of the female African Painted Dog.  This was the first time that we saw them.  They had just been put on exhibit the week before.  About 2 weeks after I took these pictures she had pups and we have not seen her since then yet.  I am hoping that the pups can be seen soon.

- I am sure that the two giraffes were talking about me while I was taking pictures.  (Not that I am paranoid of course)  I think I got some decent pictures of the giraffes at any rate.

- The Rhino is our “baby” Rhino, though calling anything that is about as big as my car a “baby” may be stretching it a bit.  If memory serves the Rino is just over a year old now.  Still cute, if you can call a Rhino cute, but not as cute as it was when it was younger.

Well I did warn you that I have more than a couple of pictures from the Zoo.

I added another New Gallery - Perth Zoo (March 28, 2005)

I was having the photographers equilivant of a bad hair day on this day.  Nothing was working.  Out of focus, too light, too dark, it was horrible.  Out of the close to 200 picutres that I took, I ended up keeping only about 30 and even some of them are less than great.  Oh well, I suppose that everyone goes through days like that.

For some reason I didn't write down the kind of Monkey in the pictures.  I will post up what type it is when I find it.

In the Gallery you will see:

- The Baboons had just been fed that morning. (I won't go into any description of what and how they were eating.)  The baby was very playful that morning and spent a great deal of time pulling (and swinging) on the tail of one of the other Baboons.  I wish more of the pictures had turned out because it was quite funny to watch.

- One of the male Sumatran Tigers played in the water for a bit, and I got a couple of good shots. Again I wish that more had turned out as the Tigers are not always so active.

- Only one picture of the Ring Tail Leemur.  They are in a walk through enclosure and it was a little dark that day, and only one or two pictures were worth keeping. (That is my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it.)

I forgot to mention in the my last post that we are members of the Perth Zoo, so we go alot! (We figure it costs nothing save fuel to get there, is a nice walk (healthy too), and  you usually see something you didn't each time).  As a result, I will probably have more Galleries of the Zoo than anywhere else.

I am working my way backwards in time with the Galleries, but I don't think that matters much.

In the New Gallery (Perth Zoo (April 15, 2005)), there are:

- A couple pictures of the baby Baboon, though I am not really sure that we can call him a baby anymore as he is probably 6 months old or so.

- Some pictues of the African Fishing Cat.  The Cat is a relatively new exhibit at the Zoo.  I am finding it difficult to get a really good picture of it as it is always on the move.  Very hard to catch it standing still.)

- Some not too bad Orangutan pictures.  (There will probably be a few more Orangutan pictures than most of the other animals in the Galleries, but then they mimic us so much how can you help but take lots of pictures of them being very “human”?)

Ok.  For a while now, well since I wrote my first post in August last year, I have been threatening to get blogging.

Unfortunately, it just has not happened. I have not been able to come up with any great Visual Basic ideas to post here, so I thought I would make up some galleries of pictures that I have taken.

For my birthday last year, I got a Canon 300D Digital SLR Camera. We have had an Olympus Digital for a couple of years, but I wanted to get a little more serious with my picture taking.

I will try not to put up too many of the same pictures in the Galleries, but some repetition will occur.

So without further babble from me, I officially announce the opening of my First Gallery. Perth Zoo (April 24, 2005) The link sould be somewhere on the left side of your screen. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do.
