After a major computer crash at the begining of the week, I am finally back.  Well sort of back,  I still have a long way to go to get my system back to where it was, but I have basic functionality.

Here are my notes for the January 16, 2005 Gallery.

The Cheetah was sitting right up close to the glass the whole time we were there.  I got some fairly good pictures of her.  One thing we did notice is that when the Cheetah is content it actually purrs, just like a cat.  We read/heard somewhere that the Cheetah is the biggest cat that can purr.  Lions and Tigers can't purr.  I don't know if this is true or not.  I guess some research is needed.

Aother “new” animal in this lot is the Otters.  They are very hard to catch standing (or sitting) still and don't seem to be on display too much either.

The Kangaroos were out in full force this day too.  The Zoo has an Australian Walkabout section and a lot of the aminals are free to roam through the area.

The Numbat was standing perfectly still in the same spot for the 30 minutes or so that I took pictures.  Usually the Numbat is running around at the very back of the enclosure.  I think this one was not the usual one which is on display.  I think it was still getting used to being out in the public view.
