Do you ever think people sometimes disengage their brains when designing web sites? I do, frequently. The latest example of this is at the Club i-mate web site. I need some help to get my i-mate SP3 accessing the internet. Currently I am getting the error Unable to place call. I have no doubt that I have simply not configured the device correctly. So I thought I'd go to the Club i-mate we site and have a look at the FAQ for the i-mate SP3. I can't, I need to be a member and register my device. Fair enough. No problem with that. I filled in the form, entered the IMEI number only to get a .NET Framework ASP.NET error displayed on the web site when I hit the submit button. The gist of the error message is cannot insert a duplicate record. I can probably guess what the problem is. The person who owned the i-mate before me has already registered it and so I can't. If I'm right its pretty poor web site design not to cater for that but I'll persevere and contact the web site support. Now this is where it gets farcical. I go to Club Support, Contact And Support On Line and guess what? Yep, I need to be a registered member to use it and my inability to register is why I want to contact them. I bit more digging about and I find there is a Contact Us section from the About Us menu entry. So I've sent a quick email off to an email address from there to see if I get any joy.
The motto of Club i-mate is
| The Power of Membership (Experience the Difference ….) |

Guys, I'd love to ;-)
Update: Yep, they've emailed me back and confirmed it. They currently cannot handle re-registering of IMEI numbers. They hope to have a solution in a few weeks. :( They tell me the wait will be worth it ...
Another Update: The previous owner has given me his login details for my Smartphone. Many thanks :)
