VB.Classic

After 7 years of "playing around" with VB.NET I have finally been given the go ahead to develop my next project in work in VB.NET.

We have still to iron out the details but in principal it has been agreed and we can purchase Visual Studio 2005. At some stage in the next few months we will also be looking to upgrade our servers from SQL Server 2000 to 2005.

So a lot of work to be done in the next few weeks as I need to refresh my knowledge as its been almost a couple of years since I used VB.NET on a regular basis and I have never used VB.NET 2005 except playing around with VB.NET 2005 Express over the last week or so.

SharpDevelop is a great alternative to Visual Studio - and its free!

Why use VB? Its not too much of a jump to use C# and AFAIK the OO aspects of it are easier to use as they have been designed in rather than tacked on as in VB

Good luck!

I tried SharpDevelop a while back but it lacked a lot of features I liked that were in VS. (I seem to remember that context sensitive help was missing and VB support poor)

I can program in C# to some degree but personally I prefer VB and at work we are all VB.Classic programmers so a switch to C# makes no economical sense.

Does it have a testing tools. I mean somthing that helps test you application. Recently I've found the interesting tool for testing but its status is beta and I thought may be VB.NET 2005 Express has such features.
The tool is here http://testingrelief.com/
