Dealcan is now awake, off the ventilator and most machines and doing well. He has even had his first grump at me because I had to leave him at the hospital and come home to go back to work tomorrow. He came off the drugs that kept him paralysed since 12 noon yesterday at 5am today and slowly started to come round properly at around 10:30am. Because of the tubes down his throat he couldn't say actual words so we got by lip-reading and Declan resorted almost straight away by using the bits of sign language he's learnt off us. The main one was asking for drinks - unfortunately he wasn't allowed anything to eat or drink until late tonight.
Long and short of it - he's doing well, the doctor's are really pleased with his progress and the operation was a success.
