Warning to customers of Secure System Technologies

This is a warning to all customers - past, present or potential - of Secure System Technologies (SST).  There is indisputable damning evidence in this post at vbCity that SST have been selling software that they don't own.  The semi-vb decompiler was written by vbCity user vbgamer45 some time ago and posted on a website.  In the meantime, SST appears to have come along, taken the source code, changed the about screen to put their name in place of his and are now selling his application as their own.  Naturally, despite the indisputable evidence against them they are denying that they are hawking stolen software but interestingly they have removed the product from the website.  The actions of an innocent man?  I think not.  The actions of a shit-scared thief?  So it would seem.

Anyway, my advice to all customers of SST is to seek legal advice as soon as possible because it seems you have been sold software that they don't own.

The evidence so far includes ...

  • ASCII strings in the SST and vbgamer45's version containing vbgamer45's name
  • Recently opened files in the SST version also appear on vbgamer45's version and vice versa
  • Output from SST version is basically the same as vbgamer45's version
  • Interfaces almost identical
  • SST contradicting themselves on technologies and timescales involved in writing the application
  • SST's general lack of understanding how the application they supposedly wrote over 4 years (or 2 years depending on which comment you read) actually works and was developed

There is more but that's enough to going on with.
