Flags at the England-Azerbaijan match

It was great to see all the flags out at St James Park during the England-Azerbaijan match last night.  I counted one Union Flag and hundreds of St Georges Crosses.

The British government seems to have this idea that the English want to be split up into regions.  I certainly didn't see any evidence of that last night.  I didn't see any regional flags, county flags or any other regional symbols.  The stands were awash with red and white flags.  This is yet another clear message to the powers that be that England is one nation with a clear sense of national identity, not a collection of artificially created political regions.  If a poll on devolution was held amongst the attendees of last nights game, I'd put money on at least 90% being in favour of devolution.

England 2 - 0 Azerbaijan

Bit of a disappointing scoreline but a win is a win.  England played exceptionally well last night, allowing Azerbaijan only a handful of shots on the goal.  The Azerbaijan goal keeper played well considering his obsession with punching the ball - maybe he's crap at catching or something?
