FAIRNESS FOR ALL: A NEW COMMISSION FOR EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS

FAIRNESS FOR ALL: A NEW COMMISSION FOR EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS

No, this isn't a request, it's the title of a government white paper signed by our glorious leader, Tony Blair.  It talks about the setting up of a new commission to improve equality and human rights and prevent discrimination in the UK.  Hooray!  They're going to stop discriminating against English people and give us a parliament.  Ummm ... no, we're not even mentioned.  There is, of course, a whole section explaining that there are going to be special Scottish and Welsh offices set up to help them stamp out discrimination.  Talk about fighting fire with fire.

Equality and human rights underpin our vision of a modern, fairer and more prosperous Britain. Discrimination simply has no place in our society. Extending opportunities to all means removing unfair barriers. Delivering prosperity for all means harnessing the skills and potential of every member of society, whatever their background.

Interesting.  Discrimination has no place in our society.  So the English are no longer part of our society?

The proposed new single Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR) will be responsible for promoting equality throughout our whole society.

Priceless!

The proposals in this White Paper build on the discussions of the CEHR Task Force, chaired by the Rt Hon Jacqui Smith MP, Deputy Minister for Women and Equality. We are indebted to its members for their willingness to share their expertise and wealth of experience to help us build a more socially inclusive society in which everyone is equally valued and everyone has the chance to contribute.

Where everyone is equally valued ... right.

The CEHR will work to support equality and human rights across the whole of Great Britain,26 but a key priority will be responding to the particular needs of both Scotland and Wales.

I really do feel sorry for the Welsh and Scots.  They have all that political freedom, their country exists and they're getting billions of pounds in subsidies from England.  They really are countries in need.

In the whole 140 page document there are 4 (yes four) references to England.  One of them refers to the 9 English Regions and the other 3 refer to Acts or documents.  Scotland is mentioned 32 times and Wales 37.  Even Northern Ireland, to which the white paper has no relevance, has 5 mentions!

Equality?  Discrimination?  Can someone pass Mr Blair a dictionary please?  Yet another example of Britain suffering under Minority Rule.
