Tell the EU what you think of the constitution

Margaret Wallstrom, one of the EU Commissioners and architects of the EU Constitution, has a blog.  And she's talking about the failure of the proposed constitution.  And you can add comments.  So I have.  Posts are moderated though, so there's no guarantee it will get up there ...

"A reply to all english posters on this blog. If you people want "less" Europe than why didn't you vote as such in your election? It's not as if there isn't a party in british politics that wants less to no europe, with english democracy being the finest in europe and with "the people" apparantly on your side what's stopping you?"

The people of England did vote for a party opposed to European integration but Scotland and Wales did not and the electoral seats are so messed up and biased in favour of Labour that they won the election anyway.  The Conservatives secured 66,000 more votes than Labour in England.

Still, we should be grateful for the sham democracy we do have in the UK because at least it is more than there is within the EU.  Can any one person here that doesn't work for the EU please tell me the last time the EU asked for their input?  I have never been asked by the EU or the British government what I think of the EU.  This proposed "constitution" won't do anything to improve that.

There is one single clause of the treaty that should send a shiver down the spine of any right thinking individual - EU law would have primacy over national law.  Unelected EU politicians would be able to force a law on your country whether your elected government wants it or not.  If that sounds acceptable or sensibble to you, drop me a line and I'll email you a list of dictatorships, despotisms and communist countries you can move to.

The treaty has failed.  Do the right thing and listen to what you have been told.  Most people do not want what the EU decision makers want.  The fact that you failed to understand this while you were writing this "constitution" shows that you are not fit to do your job.  If you don't know what the people want then you shouldn't be making any decision on their behalf.  Do the right thing and resign after sacking the rest of your motley crew.

NO MEANS NO.
